Malcolm Chang reports: "I currently reside in Jackson Heights, but I have also lived in Johannesburg, Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles, amongst others. I was born during the apartheid era and as a third generation Chinese-South African, have been regarded at various times in my life as more Black than White, as well as more White than Black, on that odd spectrum of racial classification that existed in South Africa. I have written essays for Elle Magazine (South Africa), and a chapter of my memoirs appeared in Newtown Literary. You can also check out my blogs at Senile Delinquent and Mal and Di's Excellent Adventure. I am currently working on my memoirs and my first novel."

John C. Foster's first novel, Dead Men, was published by Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing in 2015, and his second, Mister White, by Grey Matter Press in April of 2016. His debut collection of short stories, Baby Powder and Other Terrifying Substances, was published by Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing in January 2017. His short stories have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies including Shock Totem, Dark Moon Digest, and Dread: The Best of Grey Matter Press. Meet our readers: Marleen S. Barr

          

Marleen S. Barr is known for her pioneering work in feminist science fiction and teaches English at the City University of New York. She has won the Science Fiction Research Association Pilgrim Award for lifetime achievement in science fiction criticism. Barr is the author of Alien to Femininity: Speculative Fiction and Feminist Theory, Lost in Space: Probing Feminist Science Fiction and Beyond, Feminist Fabulation: Space/Postmodern Fiction, and Genre Fission: A New Discourse Practice for Cultural Studies. Barr has edited many anthologies and co-edited the science fiction issue of PMLA. She is the author of the novels Oy Pioneer! and Oy Feminist Planets: A Fake Memoir.

Richard Taylor Pearson is a triple threat: author, actor, and attorney. He grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he appeared in many plays and musicals. After graduating from Rhodes College, Richard went on to obtain a law degree from Rutgers School of Law. While he works as an attorney by day, his nights and weekends are spent writing novels and performing in theatrical events all over New York City. Richard lives in Jersey City with his husband, Brian, and their daughter, Natalie. His debut novel, The Role, was published by Lethe Press in May of 2016.

A big huzzah to everyone who turned out for our sixth regular episode of Line Break this past Saturday, at beautiful Q.E.D. in Astoria, Queens. Just by showing up and giving us the gift of your attention, you helped make the afternoon bigger and better than it would have been without you.

We also need to send out big thanks to participants Kathe Koja, Audrey Dimola, Paul Witcover, and Jackie Sherbow for their varied but uniformly excellent readings. (G.P.A. was unable to make it, which is certain now to become a running joke.) And thanks to Q.E.D. for giving us the space and an opportunity to use it.

James Gordon, better known as G.P.A. (Greatest Poet Alive), is an international award-winning author, champion storyteller, and rising actor from the South Side of Chicago. He has written several books that span the genres of poetry, children's, young adult, erotica, and mystery and suspense. Meet our readers: Audrey Dimola

          

Celebrated for her dynamic presence on stage and on the page, Queens native Audrey Dimola is a poet, performer, curator, connector, and lifelong artist. She is also Director of Public Programs at her beloved Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City. Audrey is the author of two poetry & prose collections, Decisions We Make While We Dream (2012) and TRAVERSALS (2014), and is creator of the Compass Project, a guerrilla poetry sticker initiative that has traveled across the globe spreading positivity.

A crusader for culture in her hometown borough since her college years, Audrey has been widely recognized for her work in its artistic/literary communities by presenting a unique circuit of events and creative opportunities marked by a wondrous spirit of empowerment and exploration. She has been featured on NY1 TV, Queens Public TV, and in many local publications/media, has curated shows for LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, the Historic House Trust, and Queens Museum, and performed at venues around NYC including Queens Council on the Arts, Bowery Poetry Club, Brooklyn Museum, Flushing Town Hall, Dixon Place, and the NYC Poetry Festival. She can usually be found: writing on everything, riding her bike, climbing trees, pushing the edges of reality...
