The crowd at Q.E.D. for Line Break #25 - click to view - mousewheel to zoom
A huge shoutout to everyone who turned out for the twenty-fifth and final episode of Line Break this past Saturday, at beautiful Q.E.D. in Astoria, Queens. You were a big and enthusiastic audience, and just by showing up and giving us the gift of your attention, you helped make the afternoon bigger and better than it would have been without you. You made it a fitting sendoff for our little reading series.

Thanks as always to Q.E.D. for giving us the space and an opportunity to use it. And thanks especially to our amazing readers, who made it such a fitting and festive sendoff. David Rothman took us inside a very unfortunate and hilarious job interview, leavened by anecdotes from a people who never were. Emre Tetik shared the lovely and somber story of a cat beloved by no one. Joe Okonkwo brought us into an argument over the implementation of a highly unusual marital innovation. The always amazing David Mills delivered powerful poetry in the voices of Lewis Latimer and Louis Armstrong. EXO Books delighted us with a visual feast from his new holiday release, Schmuck the Buck. And finally, host and editor William Shunn closed out the series in decidedly non-sentimental fashion with a rare performance of his sci-fi narrative poem, "Grand Motherfucker."

If you couldn't make it out on Saturday, we wish we could tell you there’s another show coming up soon. But there’s not! You missed out!

But who knows? We might do a one-off show or two sometime down the road, so please sign up for our mailing list and keep abreast of all the latest developments in the Line Break world. Maybe there will be another chance to see us.

Until then please check out all the terrific shows and events at Q.E.D. There’s something amazing happening there literally every day. Multiple times a day in fact.

Happy holidays, you grand motherfuckers!

Important Note About Train Service in Astoria

As if it weren't sad enough that this afternoon's episode of Line Break is our last, the MTA has decided to make it harder for you to get there (as they did throughout the summer). And of course, in their inimitable fashion, they kept this information to themselves until the last possible moment.

In any case, the N train will not be running in Astoria this weekend. It will be replaced by shuttle bus service between Queensboro Plaza and Ditmars Blvd.

If you had planned to take the N train to get to Line Break tomorrow, you’ll instead need to transfer to a shuttle bus at Queensboro Plaza. (Just follow the crowd. There will be a ton of people in the same plight.) Take the shuttle bus to the end of the line at Ditmars Blvd., and you’ll be able to walk to Q.E.D. from there.

We recommend giving yourself at least an extra 30 minutes to get to Line Break on time tomorrow. We can't wait to see you there!

Just a reminder that Line Break, the eclectic monthly live literary magazine, returns this Saturday afternoon in a special Permanent Break Edition in Astoria, Queens.

At every show, live-lit veteran William Shunn brings a wild assortment of writers together on one stage. Don't miss our terrific December 1 lineup, featuring:

* John C. Foster will be unable to appear due to unforeseen circumstances.

No rules, no themes—just the best writers in town. Line Break—it's the start of a new thought. Don't miss it!
