A big thank you to everyone who turned out for the special Queens Lit Fest episode of Line Break on Saturday, at beautiful LIC Landing in Long Island City, Queens. Our audience was attentive and enthusiastic, even as they broiled under a clear, hot sun.

We also need to thank participants Kambri Crews and Andrew Willett for their excellent readings. And thanks to Mike Geffner and everyone at the Queens Lit Fest for including us on their program.

Line Break is the eclectic live literary magazine where poetry meets prose, fact meets fiction, and high-brow meets low-brow. We are honored to be bringing our unique blend of writers and genres to the Queens Lit Fest in Long Island City on this afternoon at 1:30 pm.

The Queens Lit Fest is an amazing assemblage of dozens of local writers reading at LIC Landing over the course of two magical days. The festival is free, but you do need to RSVP. Do it now so you won't miss our all-star Line Break roster, which features:

Andrew Willett
Andrew Willett was raised in the eastern suburbs of San Francisco, which felt a lot like the part of the Spielberg movie before the aliens and monsters show up. An editor at The New York Times, he’s been a New Yorker for twenty-odd years and can’t imagine living anywhere else. His fiction has appeared in the anthology Thoughtcrime Experiments and, most recently, the finalists’ anthology from this year's Saints and Sinners Literary Festival.

Kambri Crews once lived with her deaf parents in a tin shed in Montgomery, Texas. She now owns and operates Q.E.D. – A Place to Show & Tell in Astoria, Queens. An after-school space for grown-ups, Q.E.D. is a café and co-working space by day and comedy club and learning center by night. With 80 to 100 events per month ranging from comedy and music to classes like learning to crochet or home brew beer, there is something for everyone.

Kambri is also a renowned storyteller and the author of the critically acclaimed and New York Times bestselling memoir Burn Down the Ground (Random House). She has performed on The Moth, Literary Death Match, Risk! and Mortified, and has appeared at SXSW Comedy, UCB Theatre, Gotham Comedy Club. Also a public speaker, she has given speeches at the University of Texas, Texas Book Festival, University of Oregon, SXSW, DeafHope, and many other schools, colleges, book festivals, and events. Meet our readers: William Shunn

            

William Shunn
William Shunn is a writer and storyteller who was born in Los Angeles, raised in Utah, expelled from Canada, and now lives in Astoria, Queens. He is the author, most recently, of the memoir The Accidental Terrorist: Confessions of a Reluctant Missionary. He hosts and produces the Line Break Reading Series.

Bill's short fiction has appeared in Salon, Storyteller, Bloodstone Review, Newtown Literary, Asimov's Science Fiction, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Science Fiction Age, Realms of Fantasy, Electric Velocipede, and various anthologies, including year's-best collections. His work has been nominated for the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award, and the Association for Mormon Letters Award. He served three years as a national juror for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and for another three years he hosted and produced the acclaimed Tuesday Funk literary reading series in Chicago.

Bill's storytelling was featured most recently at the Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, CA, he made an appearance in Michael Ian's Black newest comedy special, Noted Expert, and he'll soon be heard on the Modern Stories Mix podcast. Visit him online at shunn.net.
